Leann Berry heads up the bar at Komali Restaurant and is a favorite with countless Dallas diners. Awarded D Magazine’s Best Bartender in Dallas in both 2013 and 2015, Leann’s energetic presence is a vital element of Komali’s success.
Leann has been a standout presence in the Dallas hospitality industry for over 20 years. Starting in 1989 as a corporate trainer for Chili’s, Leann made the leap to Bar Manager and Partner at Cuidad Dallas from 2000 to 2007. Leann won early accolades as Dallas Observer’s Best Bartender for four years from 2004 to 2007. Leann has designed drinks for major brand rollouts, including Corzo Tequila and Absolut Vodka Flavors, and was awarded Top Dallas Mixologist for Grey Goose La Poire in 2005. Leann’s current creations at Komali include the Caliente Clementine (Top Ten Texas Monthly, 2014 and 2015) and the Tamarind Margarita (D Magazine Best 2011, 2012 and 2015).
As Bar Manager and Chief Mixologist at Komali, Leann continually creates new cocktail recipes to match seasonal flavors and the restaurant’s authentic Mexican cuisine. Leann is known for incorporating fresh ingredients and bringing a magical balance to the distinct details, flavors and various liquors she uses. Plus, each year, she travels to Mexico to custom-blend a double barrel tequila exclusively for Komali.
